Bayside Transcriptions specializes in text-to-text transcription, working with both handwritten and typed documents. Your documents, manuscripts, letters, records and newspapers can be transformed from print to digital to suit your needs.

Integrity, reliability, accuracy and thoroughness are standards in every project I complete. Privacy is a high priority; all content provided by clients in the course of a project will be kept strictly confidential.

Bayside Transcriptions is here to serve you in several ways. Please browse the services below, and call (757.387.9956) or email (baysidetranscriptions@gmail.com) for further details, or to discuss how I can help you with your next project!

Transcription

Service offered: Transcriptions of handwritten or typed documents from any time period. Both English and Spanish-language documents are accepted.

You will receive a full-text searchable, digital version of your original manuscript. Transcriptions are typically made in a strict, word-by-word, letter-by-letter manner, following original spellings and document structure.

This service is perfect for the family historian or genealogist. Document transcription is an excellent way to preserve old handwritten letters, postcards, journals, and newspapers. Plus, for the researcher struggling to decipher old court records or other historical documents, a skilled transcription can help move your project forward.

Transcription is also available for authors who need handwritten manuscripts typed and formatted in advance of submission to an editor.

Documents accepted: High-resolution image files (.jpg, .tif), or PDF files (.pdf). I can also work directly from your physical documents, photocopies or scans, if you wish to send them by mail.

Deliverables available: Microsoft Word documents (.doc) and/or full-text searchable PDF files (.pdf).

Pricing: Please contact me for a customized quote for your project. Based on the size and complexity of the project, in addition to the quality of the images/originals that can be provided, I will give an estimate of the total project cost.

Local Records Research

Services offered: Research assistance relating to Delmarva Peninsula historical properties, people, and events, making use of local records, microfilm, newspapers, etc. When researchers and genealogists need access to records which are unavailable to them online, I go in person to local courthouses, libraries, historical societies and archives to obtain copies of records not yet digitized.

Research services are offered for records of Accomack County, Va; Northampton County, Va; Somerset County, Md; Worcester County, Md; and Wicomico County, Md.

(Note: Extensive genealogy research is outside of my scope of services. I highly recommend clients consult a Certified Genealogist for such projects.)

Pricing: In general, the research fee is $30/hour, with a $30 minimum. Reimbursement of paper copies may be included in the project cost.

Archival Collections Inventory

For Delmarva Peninsula clients

Services offered: Organization, inventory, and description of paper and photographic archival collections.
Rehousing to acid-free folders and storage boxes, if needed.
(Note: At this time, I cannot take on projects involving digital files, audio/video materials, or museum-type objects.)

Are you considering donating your family papers or photographs to an institution? Are you a researcher or genealogist needing to organize and properly house your sources and writings? Are you a historical society or small library archive needing help processing collections? Whether an individual or an organization, I can aid you in preparing collections for donation or taking that next step toward making your collections accessible to patrons.

Pricing: Inventory services are billed on an hourly basis. Please contact me to discuss your specific project needs.
