There's an interesting side project going on here. While researching a client's Accomack County ancestor, I came across a set of tithable records that apparently have never been transcribed and published before. Soon, I hope to have these lists typed up, formatted, and proofread -- ready to share with local history repositories!

Summer break is around the corner! Pull out those old letters and diaries, and get them transcribed so you and your family can enjoy reading them for years to come.

Springtime on the Eastern Shore. Sometimes we just have to get outside, take a break from the computer, and enjoy God's creation.

#manuscriptmonday Complete transcriptions aren't always necessary. When needing to review large volumes of records in search of specifics for research, I often suggest an abstract, or extract, of the pertinent information. It saves time and money. As long as the work is properly referenced so that the researcher can go back to the original if needed, the abstract-style transcription gives you the highlights so you don't have to plow through superfluous, archaic writing to know what you have and where you found it.

Courthouse research! Do you love it or dread it? If you're in the latter group, I have good news... It's one of the services I offer. If you need historical court records researched, such as deeds, wills, case files, plats, etc. in the counties of Accomack or Northampton, contact me about your project.
